To Colorado Residents

This post is in relation to Colorado HB24-1349 that will go into effect April 1st of 2025.

While I’m sure Colorado residents might find some merit to this Bill it unfortunately singled out just one particular industry, which was Firearms versus spreading it out across may different industries. So, it was punitive in nature. A .25% Sales Tax would have been a better solution.

The Bill applies a 6.5% Excise Tax on Firearms, Ammunition and other firearm related components. Keep in mind that the Federal Government already applies a 10-11% Excise Tax on Firearms and Ammunition.

As part of the Bill, mandatory registration with the Colorado Department of Revenue is required for all sellers inside and outside the State of Colorado. Along with monthly reporting whether sales are made or not.

I have reviewed the Bill and find that being outside the State of Colorado it is more of a burden than I am willing to deal with.

So, as of April 1st we will no longer make sales to, or offer gunsmithing services to residents of Colorado, this includes exempt entities.
