Instructions for Installing Tank’s M870 Wide Action Release

WARNING! Before starting any work make sure that the firearm is unloaded.

1)Remove Trigger Plate Assembly from shotgun. Remove carrier assembly. Drill or grind staked end of hammer pin down to surface of hammer pin washer. Next make sure hammer is not cocked. Use a punch to drive hammer pin out from trigger plate assembly. Caution! Hammer spring is under tension, be careful when removing punch, to ensure that hammer plunger and spring do not fly out of trigger plate assembly. Remove action bar lock, lock spring, hammer, hammer spring plunger and hammer spring.

2)Cut and remove piece from trigger plate at point where action bar lock protrudes through bottom. See illustration (A). Clean up edges of cut with a file. On Aluminum Trigger Plates you can use Birchwood Casey’s Aluminum Black, Black Paint Pen or Black permanent Magic marker to touchup exposed metal at cut.

3)Reassemble trigger plate assembly with Tank’s Wide Action Release and other parts. We recommend using a new hammer pin* (not supplied) to reassemble your trigger plate. Make sure assembly is correct. Stake hammer pin. Be careful not to bend the Wide Action Release while doing this. Make sure end of action bar lock is below end of left connector for proper placement as shown in illustration (B) and check for proper disconnector function.

4)Finish reassembly of trigger plate and install in receiver. Check to ensure free movement of Wide Release and proper disconnector function.

*Standard Hammer Pin is #16600
Synthetic (Plastic) Trigger Plates use Hammer Pin #99205
